ClearType fonts on diagrams
« on: July 15, 2008, 07:26:04 pm »
Hi all,

the text of some elements on the diagrams is rendered in a ClearType style (blurred). How can we prevent this?

Regards,
Enriko

Open the Tools | Options | Objects dialog and click the Configure Default Fonts button.
No, you can't have it!

With the Configure Default Fonts dialog I could change font face and size, but the ClearType effect didn't change :-(

You say IE 7. Are you talking about HTML output? Perhaps you could use metafiles instead of bitmaps. [That's just a guess of course.]

I'm talking about the Diagram View but all PNG files for HTML output or XMI export are rendered in exactly the same way. I've mentioned IE7 because some applications rely on the rendering capabilities of the installed IE.

I experience exactly the same problem with the following configuration:
 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80 GHz, 1.99GB RAM
XP Professional Version 2002 Serv. Pack 2
 EA 7.1.830 (Build 830)
It's really annoying. I regret having installed this new version. It's impossible to work !   >:(

I think I know what you mean. I sort of remember this coming up some time ago, but don't remember if there was a solution.

Search the forum for this. If I'm right then you should include HTML and ClearType in the keywords.

David

PS: I don't know if this would make a difference, but have you tried the Configure Default Fonts dialog? You can reach this via the Tools | Options | Objects dialog by clicking the appropriate button. You might need to have a model open since one of the options is model-specific.

Hi David,

Thank you for your advice  :). I found the following topic on the EA Forum:
http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1208155871/0#0

I don't know if this topic will lead to opening a bug/issue by EA.
I stay on the ball

P.S.: I tried the Configure Default Fonts dialog. It didn't help.

 :D
This was recognized as a bug and will be, according to SPARX, corrected with the next build.
