Can I exclude a specific element from a document?

I am documenting some BPMN models. I have multiple instance of merging exclusive gateways that all have exactly the same description, because they alwys do the same thing across all the models. I'd like to be able to exclude these from the RTF documents I generate. I know I can fudge this by shoving them into a package and excluding that package, or creating a ciustom status for the element and excluding on that, but is there a neater way that this?
