Actionscript Problems with ... (rest) parameter
« on: October 29, 2008, 08:18:57 pm »
Hello,

iam trying to import AS3 source directorys into EA 6.5. All works well but with one exception: EA has some problems with the ...(rest) parameter in functions.

Is there any solution to tell EA to parse these classes anyway or get EA understand the ...(rest) parameter?

thanks in advance, oli

I don't know what build it was added to, but that is handled by the latest build of EA.  So I recommend that you upgrade.

Simon is referring to the build of EA, rather than the version. New builds come out from time to time, within each version. They used to come out every 2-4 weeks, though recently they have been less frequent.

If you open the About dialog (under Help on the EA main menu) you will see the complete EA version. This will have three components separated by periods, in the format: <major version>.<minor version>.<build>. For example, the currently distributed EA is 7.1.833.

You can download the most recent build from the Registered Users page on the Sparx site. You will need the login credentials that were provided when your registration was confirmed; they are in the same email as your product key. If you doing an evaluation of EA, the download for the evaluation version is also kept up to date by Sparx, so you can download and install the newer version. EA will remove the older version during the installation, but should preserve (most if not all of) your user settings.

And please use the Feature Request Report a Bug (see Simon's post below) link near the bottom of any forum page to forward a 'formal' suggestion about this directly to Sparx...

Nah, not a feature request.

I'd say it calls for a bug report.  Please include a sample of code so that I can replicate the issue.

As a bonus, these days when I fix a parsing related bug report I can send a patch to the user who reported the problem.

(So submit the bug, help make EA better and save yourself some work.  ;))

Wonderful news Simon!

With luck gunslinger will see this tomorrow (if he's ahead of my time zone) and submit accordingly.
