Shared access to EA model
« on: October 30, 2008, 07:24:20 am »
I'm currently using EA 5.00.769 with the model in a SQL Server database.

We're considering an upgrade (to the current version) and I'm wondering if EA 5 and EA 7.1 can share a database. If so, what constraints should be expected?

Thanks

Mike

Similar questions get raised on a regular basis.

They should mostly be compatible.  Users on 5 won't be able to see many new features, rich text notes will show as tags, MDG technologies will likely work very differently, you can't use auditing and I believe there may be some issues with sequence diagrams created in the new version.

Thanks.

I had actually tried searching the forum but the Search the Forum function doesn't seem to scan anything but recent posts. Is there an "Advanced Help"?
