how to load welcome page
« on: November 14, 2008, 04:52:41 am »
Hi All,
I am new to enterprise architect. I have a simple question--How to load the welcome page after clicking on the project's name?
Thanks in advance

I am not sure I understand what you're asking. My guess is this is just terminology getting in the way.

As I understand it, the welcome page would be what you see when you open EA, with or without a project. This can be changed by setting a diagram as the project default, though the welcome page would normally be open as well (via tabbed pages).

Perhaps you are talking about what the example project shows, or maybe something else entirely. Or I might have misunderstood the context of your question. [That would be my fault, not your phrasing.]

So, please give us - the rest of the community is also 'listening' - a bit more information. I'm sure we can come up with an answer for you.

Thanks David for your prompt reply and sorry about not being clear. Actually my question is:
In Start Page of EA, we have our project names in recent project. As I have seen in example project, when we click on EAExample their Welcome page is loaded in the main window in which they have links to different data models.
I have also created a project and set up everything, but when I click on my project name, the values of project view, properties and system are changing but not the start page. I have to navigate my Welcome diagram through project view and explicitly click on the page to load that in the main window.

I don't know how to get that page with just clicking on the project name. Though I am able to create hyperlinks successfully inside the project.

Hope I am clear about my question and thanks for your time for answering them.

The welcome page in the Example model is a default diagram (Diagram | Make Model Default) with a number of hyperlinks on it.  The background is a boundary element with an alternate image  (Element | Appearance | Alternate Image).

Go to your Welcome diagram, then click on the Diagram menu option in the menu bar at the top of the screen, and select the Make Model Default option. Close your project, and re-open it. Your Welcome page should now be the first thing displayed.

Let us know if this does not do what you want.
Best Regards, Roy

Simon mentions that the example default page has hyperlinks on it. To be more specific, you can add your own hyperlinks to a diagram, pointing to other places in your project, or elsewhere. EA Help will give you the information that you need for this. [It is one of those things that's only obvious when you've already seen it.]
