suppress or reduce display of element notes
« on: November 25, 2008, 12:29:24 pm »
Hi
I want to use the notes section of elements to keep a few paragraphs of defintion, descrition, etc.  But I can't seem to reduce the size of the element box - it won't go any smaller than the size of the note.  I have tried Feature Visibility...Truncate Feature but that does not seem to do it.  Is there a way to  change the size of the element.  I am using the Requirements element.  I have just started to investigate EA.
regards, John

For a specific diagram - click on the background to the diagram, select Properties to display the Properties dialog, and select the Elements tab. Make sure that the Notes checkbox is not selected.

For all diagrams, go to Feature Visibility as you did, and again make sure that the Notes checkbox is not selected. You could leave the checkbox selected and reduce the maximum number of characters, but that would stop you creating long notes rather than merely restricting their display.

Features are Attributes and Operations, so selecting Truncate Features would minimise the display of Attributes and Operations to the limits of any other condition (minimum defined element size, or dimensions dictated by displaying - as you have found - Notes or Tagged Values).
Best Regards, Roy
