EA on 64-bit Vista?
« on: January 11, 2009, 05:41:14 pm »
Getting ready to do a major laptop upgrade and was thinking of loading the 64-bit version of Vista Home Ultimate. Just to get the extra 1GB out of the 4GB RAM it comes with.

Checking the web suggests that it may now be time to consider going 64-bit.

But as it's mainly a platform for EA these days, thought I'd check to see if anyone is running EA on x64?

Checked the forum to see if anyone had asked the same question recently, but didn't find anything.

Actually, there has been a fairly lively thread on this subject quite recently. You might not have retrieved it due to the way YABB - the software used for this forum - handles search strings. It can be quite picky.

The end result of the thread was that it is generally possible to run EA on Windows 64. I think you need to run it under WoW for compatibility with the 32 bit architecture, but I am not sure.

Search again and you should turn something up. Just don't give up too quickly.

No, you can't have it!

If you search for the last 50 of my replies, it'll probably show up in about 40 of them :p

This one has some more details: http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1227555007/2#2
