BPMN support in Enterprise Architect
« on: February 05, 2009, 10:24:11 pm »
I am trying to use the BPMN Add-in within EA 7. I found on the website the "UML Tutorial - The Business Process Model". Is there any other documentation available to start-up with? For instance, I don't even know how to reproduce with tool the 2 simple examples proposed .
Is there any other introductory document?

Not much, but check the rest of the Sparx resources. There might be some newer stuff in the white papers and such. Keep looking, since there are developments on this front in EA 7.5.

As for reproducing the examples, open the Tagged Values window and dock it someplace convenient. Now click on your BPMN elements one by one. For several element types - you'll get the feel of this right away - you will see tagged values that represent some 'aspects' of that element type (once again, it will be fairly evident). Try setting these to different values - most provide a drop-down list when you click on the value. You will notice that the elements redraw themselves - they use shape scripts that test the tagged values - to represent variants as defined by BPMN.
