Adobe Acrobat Doesn't Like EA (7.1)
« on: February 18, 2009, 12:42:27 pm »
I didn't know where to put this (bugs?).  I create a lot of documents with illustrations from a variety of sources.  I would like EA to be one of those sources.  However, Acrobat (Professional Version 9) won't display any imbedded EA diagrams.  Sometime I get nothing, sometimes a lot of detail missing.

I use Diagram\Copy Image to copy a diagram to the clipboard and then paste it into a Word document in a frame with a caption.  So far, so good.  I then turn it into a PDF using the Acrobat functions.  The frame is there, the caption is there but the diagram body is blank.

I have tried saving as an EML (Diagram\Save Image) but I get the same result.

Is this a known issue?  Should I be talking the Adobe? Should Sparx?

I do the same thing, using Acrobat v8.

Paste a diagram into an MS Word document, convert to PDF.

I haven't had a problem.

Hate to ask, but did you previously use Acrobat v8 and this functionality has now broken in Acrobat v9?

Yes, I used to do it successfully.  Then I had a break and now it is broken.  I definitely changed Acrobat versions in between.

I tried using an image format rather than EML (vector) and it works fine.  Obviously, it is sensitive to the way EA is generating EMLs.  I use EMLs quite a lot from other sources (eg Visio) and haven't had a problem.

I don't know what format is used on the clipboard but it wouldn't surpise me if that is an EML too.
