Open multiple projects at the same time?
« on: April 06, 2009, 09:12:31 pm »
Hi all,

is there a way to open multiple projects in one EA instance? I did not find one. So I open a new EA instance and open the other project there.

That's the only way Peter.

You can do something a bit similar though, but it might not provide the results you seek.

You can add additional 'root' elements to the EA Project Browser tree. Each of these root elements represents a separate model tree; they are essentially separate projects living in the same file (or DBMS repository). There's not much documentation on this, but the forum contains several threads dealing with the concept.

Note that all users who can open the file (or repository) will have at least read access to the projects. [Perhaps you can change this in recent versions, I don't remember.] Note as well that there are strict limits to references between (internal) projects. [If they are allowed at all.]

So given that EA is pretty tolerant of multiple instances running at once, you are probably getting the best results you can expect.

No, you can't have it!
