Version 7.5 Compatibility
« on: April 08, 2009, 06:00:57 am »
If I save a model in EA 7.5 (beta) can someone else edit the file in EA 7.1 or 7.3?

We've just tested the upgrade to 7.5 (from 6.5) yesterday, and EA is suprisingly backwards compatible.
With a 6.5 client we could open and edit a 7.5 model without a problem.

The last major change in the DB structure occurred in Version 4.01 The only recent difference in the DB structure is when auditing is set on for a repository. This will set the Database Version to 7.1. Which the latest version all support.

I guess some diferences may rise if you try to edit a field which was made larger in 7.5 (I think memo tagged value was) or trying to edit formatted notes in 6.5 (because form 7.1 it has some native formating).
Maybe there are other things I forgot, but I dont think there will be any catastrophical lost.
