Hiding the stereotype
« on: May 21, 2009, 01:47:17 am »
I have implemented a UML Profile with elements that extend Class

I have defined the attributes that will become tagged values for the stereotyped class and all is well and good.

When the profiled classes are used, the stereotype assigned to them obviously appears on all diagrams and I can see the benefit of showing the stereotype, but what can I do if do not want the stereotype to appear?

There appears to be no way to turn off the visbility of the stereotype, is that so?

I did think of creating a shapescript, however by doing this I loose the ability to manipluate the compartments (none are available). Is it possible to obtain the compartments from the native shape? I cannot see this in the User Guide section on ShapeScripts.

Cheers

I think yoju can change your profile to hide the stereotypes by using the "metatype" attribute:

Thanks Frank, almost worked! setting the _metatype attribute in the profile, renames the type, so instead of Class1 the element appears as MyType1 etc

But the stereotype still appears  :(

Thanks for your feedback

There's an option in the properties dialog for a diagram to show or hide stereotypes (I think it's on the first tab, don't have EA here on this machine).

There are two options to control the display of element stereotype icons and text, on the Elements tab of the Diagram Properties dialog. I'm pretty sure, though, that if you clear the Show Element Stereotypes checkbox no stereotype information is displayed.

The option to show attribute and operation stereotypes in a diagram is on the Features tab of the Diagram Properties dialog. Clear the checkbox to hide the stereotype.

I wonder if there is a way to switch on/off that "Show stereotype" feature for the entire model?

Forsee before forcast!
