[Newbie] Starting a big project from scratch
« on: August 05, 2009, 08:55:01 pm »
Hello everybody,

after several days playing with EA, I now want to start "a big" project from scratch to understand the full process. So I am now looking for some kind of tutorial (or an example of a project) with example files (EA files) and detailing all the steps to follow with some examples (EA files) as:

1) Make the Business process;
2) Make the use cases;
etc...

I want to start with something small and easy enough so that I can understand the overall processes and concepts. The perfect example project for me would be a project handling users music libraries on the internet or something similar (but on the internet)...

Could you please provide me with some help please?

Best regards.
K.

Check the Resources section of the Sparx Web site. There is a link at the top of any forum page.
No, you can't have it!

Hi,

thanks for your answer. What I saw is some high-level tutorials. I did not find anything more detailed with clear (but simple) goals to achieve since the beginning and some EA files as examples. Is there something similar?

Best regards.

Look at the Demonstrations. They are not listed individually on the resources page; there is only a heading and link to where they are. It is easy to miss unless you know what you are looking for.

Also check out the white papers.

If you want something very simple, look for Quick Start     Create A UML Project In Enterprise Architect in the Help index.

As part of that process, add a Business Process and/or Use Case model or View to your project, and explore what it contains.  Perhaps look at the Traceability topics in the Help too. Remember that, in the diagrams included in the models, you can right-click on each element and select the UML Help menu option to tell you what the element is and what it represents.

And keep asking questions on the forum!
Best Regards, Roy

Hi,

for those who are interested, created a new ICONIX process roadmap gives a good averview of what to do and when.

Hi,

also for those who are interested, the following book is very easy to read and perfect for people that do not want to spend half the time doing analysis:
