How to change composite type
« on: August 26, 2009, 06:32:33 pm »
Hi!

I currently have a lot of use case. Now I want to change some of these use cases into composites. By default EA creates another use case diagram as comosite without asking. How can I change this behaviour? I actually want to create an activity diagram.
Or is it possible to change the compisite link, e.g. a use case has to children child1 and child2. The first one is currently composite diagram.  Can I change this to child2?

Thanks!

Jan

You can create an Activity diagram first, and then make your usecase composite.
This will not create an extra diagram, but makes the first child diagram the composite diagram.

Thanks a lot!

It works...actually...I tries this before and it didn't work. But that was because a accidentally added an Activity, not an activity diagram. Then, when i changed to composite, it created a new use case diagram. Now, with a little more confidence, it worked ;)

Or...

You can set the parent element to composite and allow EA to create a new child diagram of the default type. Then navigate to the diagram and right-click on its surface choose Diagram | Change Type from the main menu. The context menu will allow you to change the diagram type.

Note that this feature is not available from the main context menu (last time I looked).

Thanks Geert![/edit]

David,

It's the other way around.
The option to change the diagram type is only available from the Diagram menu, NOT from the context menu.
