« on: October 10, 2009, 05:37:52 pm »
My dept. has update TFS system from 2005 to 2008. But there is a constraint to add an explain in TFS2008 when I check in the .eap files to TFS Sever. And I can not find a pop-up window let me input the anumerical value.

Walt,

We are using the TFS integration with TFS 2008 as well.
Do you mean you are not allowed to enter comments when you do a checkin?
I don't have that issue, EA shows me a pop-up to enter comments whenever I do a checkin.
I'm using EA v 7.5.849 with the TFS version control option.

Geert

PS. I hope you are not trying to put the .eap file in TFS, because that will cause all kinds of problems.

Geert,

I am not trying to put the .eap file in TFS, I just want to export a target package to the Versiong file:eaA\*******.xml, then, when checking in the file to the TFS Sever.
It shows----"An error ocured while checking the package into Version Control. The Version Control provider reports the following error:TF100117"   :-[

Do you have any idea what that errors means?
(I tried googling for it but came up empty handed)
Can you check it in manually (from within Visual Studio)?

I can imagine that your checkin policies in TFS might be too strict to use with EA. I would look in that direction.

I had tried to check it in manually, it's OK.
But every time I checked it in, I must enter the comments in TFS. TFS will remind you to enter the comments of checking in.
But when I use EA, I can not find a place to enter the comments.

Hmm, thats strange, here it always pops up the dialog to enter comments.
Wich version of EA are you using?
Have you configured the version control settings with the SCC option or the TFS option?

Geert ,

I configured the version control settings with the TFS option. And the Version is 7.5.843.  Does it matter?

I'm not sure, but it could matter.
I think you best try this on the latest version 7.5.849. If you still have this issue on the latest version then you can send a bug report/support ticket to Sparx.

I believe the answer to your question is here:  http://www.visual-studio-forum.info/30/5/907249.html
(I think your error number was TF10117, not TF100117)

EA uses the check-in option "/override" when using type TFS, but this does NOT override the requirement for check-in notes. (Go figure...)

Using the type SCC, I believe TFS will display a "submit" dialog, and that will give you access to the Notes entry dialog.
(Whilst the "submit" dialog will display when using the TFS command line client from the Windows command prompt, it is not possible to open it from a process spawned by a Windows CreateProcess.  I tried many different ways...)

Can you just remove the requirement for check-in notes? (On .xml files?)
Can you create a separate Team Project (without check-in notes) for your EA package files?

See the user guide for information about TFS-SCC client.

HTH.

regards,
Howard.

I don't get it.
I'm using EA version 7.5.849 and TFS 2008 v 9.0.30729.1 SP and I can add checkin notes without a problem.
And now you are saying it can't be done?

Or are we talking about a different type of notes?

When I do a checkin I get a EA dialog to enter the checkin comments. (not a TFS dialog), but the notes do get saved in TFS.
