Property String
« on: December 19, 2009, 09:21:00 am »
Where can I set the UML property string for an element?

I know you can choose if the element property string is visible or not in the Elements section of the diagram properties, but I don't know how to set it.

You CAN'T (at least not directly).

The element property string is the rendering of a subset of the properties of the element.  By setting the properties (Abstract, Leaf etc) the values appear in the property string.  You can only decide to show it or not (and that ONLY on a per-diagram basis).

Thanks Paolo,

I wanted to use the property string to specify the execution environment of a node in a deployment diagram without using an Execution Environment element, but this won't be possible then.

I see that the example deployment diagram from the user guide shows similar information in what looks like Tagged Values (even though they are not grouped in a tags section).  So my question now is: are tagged values the appropriate place to specify the operating system of a node?

Thanks for your help,
Erik

You mean this diagram. The elements are Node instances and the values for Disk Controller, Disks etc are the run-time state. Select the diagram object and press Ctrl+Shift+R.
