Inter-Model links
« on: December 25, 2009, 02:27:57 am »
Hi all,

I was interested in creating a sort of hyperlink between different EA models;

In other words, let's say i've a comment on a Gateway Shape (in a BPMN model) which states "Decision logic is driven by a lookup table".

Is there an out-of-the-box way in EA to easily (double click or hyperlink or right click) connect the comment shape depicted above to the lookup definition given in the data model?

How do you solve usually these kind of problems?

Thank you very much, and, just in case, happy holidays  :)
Angelo

Angelo,

There are basically two ways to create "shortcuts" to diagrams:
  • Composite: you can make an element "composite". This means that doubleclicking the element will open the diagram designated as the "composite diagram". To link an element to a composite diagram the diagram needs to be nested under the element. Once linked you can move the diagram to where you want.
  • Diagram hyperlinks: Drag a diagram from the project browser onto the diagram view and choose "hyperlink"

Hope this helps, and best wishes for you too.
