Any further example of EA project to share?
« on: December 30, 2009, 03:41:30 am »
Dear EA community,

I've developed an advanced Add-in for supporting traceability process over Enterprise Architect.
Now I would like to validate and test my tool, before release it, but unfortunately I have only the bundled EA example project available.

Is anyone available to share at least one EA project for testing purposes?
It will be really helpfull for us.

Thank you all.
/Hermes

There have been lots of requests for additional or more detailed models over the years.  The response usually goes something along the lines of "it takes a lot of work to produce such a model for a real system, and this work belongs to company X so can't be released."

In reality you'll have to look at each scenario for your use cases, then write something into a model or models for each of them.  Even if you had 10 large real-world projects you would be likely to miss one of your use cases.

As an alternate note:
We have set up the Community Resources site: http://community.sparxsystems.com/
We do hope users will start to contribute models as examples of their specifc subject (post Sparx review).
Hopefully, over time these may be of use not only conveying their subject, but also for this type of scenario.

On this note,
I think it would be helpful if we users could agree on one (or more) sample projects that we could evolve over time.  They need to be more than trivial, but not too complex.

For example, many of us are consultants.   What about a simple (ha ha) effort recording system that allows a consultant to record all the effort they expend (so they can track true costs and improve estimates) and generated various invoicing and sign-off stuff (depending on project and client requirements).

By making it real, we get a chance to address some of the real issues.

If, we decide to go ahead on this, we'll need a place to discuss stuff (not the Community Site).  In fact, it might make sense to have a separate category to discuss Community site stuff in general - since the Community Site isn't designed for that.

The problem with the community source would be that it needs a single owner/maintainer. You can not really shared edit sources.
