Linking to specific parts of document.
« on: January 08, 2010, 10:52:01 pm »
Hi,

I'm trying to link some use cases to specific parts of a large document. I know I can import the whole document and link that whole doc. to a use case but how do I get it so that when you click on on a use case it links to a specific paragraph or picture within a large linked document.

Is there any way to do this?

I have to confess I am new to EA so any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Alistair

Alistair,

I'm afraid that isn't possible.

Actualy EA RTF documents do have Bookmarking set by the Element Guid - so you can use a Word Master Document and do an embedded link of the Bookmarked section into this Master Document - I suggest you see:

Note: Bookmarking cannot be applied accross multiple templates (Virtual Documents).

Well, it is possible in 7.5 to create more than 1 Document Artifact (that can hold a Linked Document), that all can be childs of an Use Case. I suppose you could link to the right Document Artifact.

But perhaps it's better to explain exaclty what you mean by linking?
(or perhaps you get a lot of unusable answers here ....)
What should the "linking" facilitate?
