Mechanical Systems
« on: January 25, 2010, 02:07:41 pm »
I am hoping to use EA for design of a physical product that includes mechanical systems, electronic hardware and embedded software
Does anyone have any examples or suggestions for including mechanical systems in EA.
For example linking requirements through to specification.
For example a requirement to move part of the product through to the specificaton for the torque of a motor.
Is EQ the right tool for this?

This looks like a job for...

SysML!!!

Which is, btw, integrated into EA Ultimate (and, if i recall the name correctly, System Engineer) versions.

SysML is essentially simplified UML geared (no pun intended) toward general system architecture and design. It provides for modeling of requirements, block models, parametric models (which employ constraint equations like F = m*a), even a bit of simulation capability. Check it out!
