Restore a corrupted project
« on: February 02, 2010, 03:05:32 pm »
My EA project has somehow got corrupted.  The problem manifests itself when I attempt to generate any kind of documentation (RTF or HTML).  The progress bar gets stuck a little past the 50% mark and hangs there interminably.

Is there a way to recover the project?  What recourse do I have?

Are there any log I can consult to tell what's ailing the project?

Sri,

The first thing I would attempt is to run a "Tools/Data Management/Project Integrity Check"

Thanks for the suggestion.

Here's what I did

1) Tools > Data Management > Project Integrity Check :: Report Only
    This showed several errors
2) I backed up the original EAP file and ran Recover/Clean operation on the Project Integrity Check panel
3) Ran the Report Only operation and saw no errors now
4) Tried to generate RTF documentation for the project -- Same problem.  i.e. it hangs
5) Tools > Data Management > Project Transfer... and transferred the EAP that I just cleaned in step 2 to a new dummy project
6) Windows explorer reported that dummy.EAP is 5414KB while the original project is only 3490KB.  Odd methinks...
7) Tried to generate documentation for dummy.EAP -- Same problem

Does all this suggest anything to you?

And you are on the last version? (7.5.850).
I you are then I suggest you send in a bug report/support request to Sparx.
They are usually pretty helpful when you have a specific issue.
