SysML: Display of flowProperties in flowSpecs
« on: August 01, 2008, 09:44:43 pm »
Is it possible to display SysML flowProperties in flowSpecifications as a simple list (as it is shown on page 61 in the OMG SysML Spec. 1.0 (http://www.omg.org/spec/SysML/1.0/PDF/ ))?

Currently they are shown graphically. That means a flowProperty contains multiple rectangles which consumes a lot of space.

I take it you mean Table 9.1 on the page marked 61, not table 8.3 on page 61 of 258.

This might also be accomplished via one of the other views EA provides (the element matrix or whatever) but I don't think such an approach would be as effective as the notation you cite in the SysML spec.

At this time it appears that EA does not always pick up profile elements in some views - things like BPMN and SysML elements don't appear to be 'first class' entities. I gather from remarks the Sparxians have made in the forum that they are aware of this and are taking steps to address the issue.

What I think we need is the ability to define custom partitions, and the feature sets that should be used to populate them. Perhaps some kind of stereotype (or whatever) filter could be used.

I strongly encourage you to put this forth to Sparx as a feature request. Click the Feature Request link below the Support link near the bottom of any forum page. Please post back to keep the rest of us in the loop if you hear back from Sparx on this subject.

Meanwhile, you could create a shape script to accomplish this. That would not be a perfect solution, as shape scripts only approximate 'real' partitions.

Thanks for your answer. Yes, I meant Table 9.1. Sorry for the confusion.

I have submitted a feature request to Sparx Systems and will post their answer here.

Excellent. I'm somewhat optimistic on this one...

Thanks for the update, even if there's no news.

Given the unusually long time since the last build, and the number of problems that have been reported here of late - not a scientific survey by any means, but still an indicator - I suspect they have their hands full with maintenance issues.

Still, let's hope this is on the upcoming feature list.
