v8 - RuleFlow Activity for Class - How?
« on: February 09, 2010, 01:08:06 pm »
The Help says you can add a RuleFlow Activity to a Class - and the menu options also exist.  However, when I try to do that, nothing happens - both from the browser or the diagram.

Is this functionality available in build 852?

I can get to an activity task by the Use Case route, but I'm after direct access from the Class.

TIA,
Paolo

Yes, it should all work in EA release 8.0 beta 1.

See this:

http://www.sparxsystems.com/uml_tool_guide/extending_uml/business_rule_modeling.html

Can you create a skeleton model as described there? If so, can you create a RuleFlow Activity on Class 1? I can. EA adds the RF Activity as a child of Class 1, and that Activity has a Rule Flow diagram. The Diagram View is blank for the RF diagram, so you can start adding the content of the diagram.

The RF diagram added under Class 2 has 3 example elements in it.

I can also pick up any old Class any old place and add a RuleFlow Activity.

If this is not happening for you, you should submit a bug report.
Best Regards, Roy

When I try to create a new model from pattern, the Business Rule Model is NOT on the list.

So that got me looking at the MDG technology setup and EA is "playing fast and loose" with my setitngs...  If I set/reset the items on the list.  When I re-enter NOT all of my settings are retained...

In any event, not surprisingly, the Business Rule Model MDG technology MUST be enabled...

I'll report the bug.

Quick question, what edition of EA are you using?  Business Rules is only the Business Engineering and Ultimate editions.

Hi Simon,

I'm running Ultimate and as soon as I enabled the RDM Technology (and restarted) I was able to Add the RuleFlow Activity to an arbitrary Class (as I expected to be able to do).

This has been fixed with Beta 3 (854) - bus as far as I can tell, wasn't mentioned...
