Database types for SQL Server 2008 for EA 7.1
« on: May 12, 2009, 09:27:24 pm »
I am currently using EA 7.1 and when doing database modeling it allows me to select SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 among various others.

These items are database types which can be seen in Settings | Database Data Types and then selecting the chosen product.

Now, does anybody have all the database data type definitions for the product "SQL Server 2008" ? and is there a way I can import such definitions so that I can do SQL Server 2008 data modeling in EA 7.1?

Emilio,

If I remember correctly there was a similar topic on the forum a while ago (one or two months ago).
Use the search button on the top left, and dont forget the change the "this post was made in the last..."

I did search and found only one non-related article. Today I tried again with various search words and came out empty as well, in other words a few non-related posts.

I was referring to this http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1238074799 post.
(found it using "SQL 2008" as keywords)

Thanks Geert, somehow I didn't get that post with any of my searches. In any case I just needed some sort of Data Type Import to "backport" into EA 7.1. The post in question is about missing 2008 types in EA 7.5

BTW the post in question was about importing a database schema rather than the actual Database Types for SQL Server 2008.

In EA 7.5 there is only SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 but no 2008. Is there a way to import the SQL Server 2008 data types (all) without having to manually create a new database product and entering all the types one by one? SQL 2008 has new types such as the Geography and I believe Geometry.
