How Can I layout an activity diagram ?

I found that, when I create activity diagram using EA, both layout menu and toolbar shortcut are grey, why ? Can I layout activity diagram ?

Somewhere in the documentation, it DOES state that the standard layout algorithm is NOT suitable for Behavioural diagrams - and this is, indeed, the case.

However, you can do some localized layout by selecting the elements you wish and using <context menu>|Layout Selected Elements

I think you can also use the View|Layout Tools layout toolset (again on the selected elements of the diagram).

However, as previously stated, the results aren't very good.

The diagram properties have a layout direction (Diagram/Set Layout Style). Chose Down. As Paolo suggests select a number of elements and use the context layout command. It can help with the raw layout in many times. You need to manually rework the result.
