Searching within a diagram
« on: July 16, 2010, 10:14:14 am »
Ok, its friday, I may be having brain fade, but ...

I have a large diagram, with plenty of entities?

How do I search within the diagram to see if a particular entity is there.
The entities in the diagram do not come from the associated package, and are indeed scattered across many packages.

I thought ctrl-F would be a good idea, but it runs across the entire repository, and seems to have no (simple) way to limit it to the open diagram.

Find the item in the browser then use "Find in Diagrams".  If the target diagram is on the list it will find where in the diagram the item is...

Thanks
Now why did I expect that would be the answer.
Since the resultant list of diagrams is unsorted I had hoped to simply to text search the diagram and have the entity highlighted.

Show the diagram in the Element List (Right click | Switch to List View)
Sort and group elements however you want.

Add it to your list of resizable, sortable by column dialogs!

RE: your original question - If you right-click on the element in the Project Browser, there is a "Locate in Current Diagram" menu item.  If the element is not on the current diagram, this item is greyed-out.  HTH.
