'mailto' Hyperlinks on Diagrams
« on: September 05, 2009, 07:23:09 am »
In 7.1 I was able to place 'mailto' hyperlinks on diagrams, but these seem to no longer work in 7.5, presumably because of the updates to the Hyperlink dialog.

Anyone know how to make these work in 7.5 please?

Thanks.

Try setting Hyperlink Type to "Web Site" and Hyperlink Address to "mailto:[email protected]".

Hi Neil,

That works, but it leaves an interstitial "Navigation was Cancelled" message and web diagram.  This will confuse and upset the "punters".

Is there any way to suppress that spurious functionality?

Is a feature request needed?  I'm going to need this functionality to work "seamlessly" very soon.

[EDIT:  The mailto: hyperlink doesn't work at all on the Web output - which is where I REALLY need it!  :( - reported]

Yes sorry my original post was not clear. These used to work in the HTML output in 7.1 and stopped working in 7.5. You submiited a bug report Paolo?

Did Sparx acknowledge the issue Paolo?

Yes Dorian,

they have logged two issues:
  • One that the Diagram doesn't respond (in HTML mode)
  • That the mailto causes the interstitial error message (I think, perhaps Sparxian Dermot can confirm my interpretation of this second one)
HTH,
Paolo

Still doesn't work over a year later...  And I need it even more NOW...  :o

BTW, the interstitial navigation canceled is also still there.

I believe I have seen a customized HTML template with a Javascript mode for this, adding a mail to link on diagrams for HTMNL documentation

It is available for download on the Sparx Community Site (not this forum)

I have tried it and it works, certainly for version 8.0, I assume also for version 7.5

Cheers

Phil

Thanks for the pointer Phil (see: Add Diagram Feedback and Comment Link to HTML Report).

However, this solution has a number of problems for my needs.  It applies ONLY to HTML and applies to ALL diagrams.

I'm specifically after the fix to the Hyperlink - so that I can have the same functionality (which used to be there) in both HTML and direct model.

Having had a look at the generated HTML, it's a bug pure and simple - EA emits incorrect HTML.  The best solution, I suspect, is to add a new type of hyperlink (Email) which is specifically set up to correctly emit the required mailto: expression.
