Cannot generalize/parent a class without diagram?
« on: May 22, 2011, 01:05:16 pm »
I'm very new to EA, having used the trial version (version 8) for a few days before getting EA professional (at version 9.0, now build 905).

Encountered something today which has got me a bit puzzled - trying to create base classes and derived classes (i.e., set up generalization relationships).  It seems that I can't open the "Set Parents and Interfaces..." dialogue for a class unless I add the classes involved to a diagram first!

(I'd created the classes, but only had object instances of them on various diagrams - not the actual classes themselves on any diagram).

I.e., I can't use the Element->Advanced->Set Parents and Interfaces... menu item just with the corresponding element selected in the project browser.

Is this "by design" or an oversight, or is there something I'm not doing right here?

Thanks!
Jason

Jason,

I think you are right. A lot of functions in EA are accessible only via diagrams.
