Show contents of package diagrams
« on: June 10, 2011, 11:58:29 pm »
Hello,

i got a question regarding the creation of a layered architecture diagram. i use packages to represent the layers. inculded are the uml classes with their dependencies. now i want to create a diagram with all layers and draw connections between connected classes. but every time i drag and drop the package on a diagram i only see the small class icons, not the UML Class rectangles.

can anyone tell me how this works?

Thanks and best regards
Patrick

The small icons are displayed because you have the option "Package contents" enabled in the diagram properties (right-click on the diagram, Elements tab).

For what you want to do, you have to disable this option, then pull your sleeves up, enlarge the packages as required and drag the classes (simple link) on them...  :-/

EA doesn't do it automatically... :'(

Then draw associations between classes and so on.

If you were using something other than a package you could create a composite diagram and set the diagram instance to show the contents of the composite diagram.
