Use Case, Structured Scenarios alternative flows

Hi,

I'm trying to use the Structured Scenarios to build my Use Cases and use the automated generation of the Activity Diagrams and test cases.  The problem I am having is that there is no way to have an alternate path within an alternate path.

For example Step 1 is followed by either Step 2 or 2a dependant upon some criteria (say the response to Step 1), however 2a.1 may be followed  by either of two steps dependant upon some different criteria.

An Activity diagram or process flow deals with this by design but I cannot get the use case to follow suit.  I either have to artificially return to the basic path which means that the flow is incorrect or have 2 alternatives, one for each possibly, meaning that I some how know the answer before starting the alt flow and also replicating the step 2a.1 with 2b.1.

Any ideas?

As far as I remember that did (does?) not work. There's a thread somewhere dealing with exactly that topic.

Cheers, I did search for threads on it but came up blank.  I'll get the most recent build and see if it is fixed.  It's really rather annoying as otherwise I'd be able to save a whole lot of time creating test cases and it renders the function almost useless to me.

Weird, when I search for the word "Alternate" the only thread I get is this one.

Cheers, its kind of nice to know I'm not the only one put out by this, it really is the only thing stopping me adopting EA as my primary tool (currently its MS Word   )

Fully agree with you Koppo on the need in improving structured scenarios to be used as you suggested.

 I haven't seen it sorted since.
