Business Rule Model option missing
« on: October 03, 2011, 11:09:05 pm »
Hello All,

using EA 8.0.864, when I try Add / Add a New Model using wizard, the Business Rule model option is missing. What might be the problem? ( not the version I suppose ...)

Model templates are defined by MDG Technologies. If one is missing, it probably means that the technology is disabled. Settings>MDG Technologies to enable (requires restart).

(Note: Business Rule Model technology is not available for all editions of EA. I think it's Business and Ultimate editions only.)

Yep, you are right, not available in Corporate Edition. Is there any way to obtain the Business Rule Model as a standalone package? It seems strange to me that a corporate edition should be deprived of such an important feature ... :'(

I agree.  We acquired the Corporate Floating Edition when it was the most functionally rich edition available, but now do not have access to "Business Rules" which could be described as generic core functionality for a corporation.

Same problem. We have to use REQ element to have a auto-numbered rules, in a separate package. But this is not an ideal solution.

As we don't work with Business Rule functionality very often. We kept our existing Corporate Floating licences and just purchased one Ultimate Floating licence, which we share to access Business Rules and other useful functionality then the need arises.
The user just need to select the Ultimate Floating licence from the licence manager.

HI

Have an option, go to the Settings->Project Types-> General Types -> Constraints and add a new Constraints called Busines Rules

When you are at your Use Case you will have the option to add a Business Rule, just add your naming convension.

I use BR+XX+01 - XX := Use Case name.
Best regards
