Little red arrow above use case in diagram
« on: February 03, 2012, 02:16:22 am »
Hi,

Haven't found any reference to this either in the user guide or the forums. As per the subject this little red arrow has started appearing just above one of my use case bubbles in my diagrams. Now, I'm sure it means something but I can't for the life of me figure out what or how to get rid of it. None of my other use cases show it. Any ideas anyone ?

Thanks

If it were a bit easier you would have found several dozen threads here regarding "red arrow".

see help -> Bookmark

OK cheers.

For the record, searching the forum for either "red arrow" or "bookmark" yields zilch other than this thread. Of course searching the help for bookmark speaks of a red "triangle". Now, if only I had known it was a bookmark I wanted ...

You must not use the "Search the Forum" which is only intended to confuse the Russians (as we tend to say here in Germany). There's a Search button with a page where you need to set the (all posts) search and entering "red triangle". This runs a couple of minutes (either because Sparx web server is steam driven or because this silly YABB uses plain text search).

[Well, after 67 minutes of waiting I gave up. Somebody needs to shovel coal, I guess. Just forget about the search.]

[edit] Now, after 10 minutes, it's still searching. I tried a 2nd search and got this:
Quote
Error: The last POST request from your IP was less than 5 seconds ago, and was blocked to prevent overloading the forum. Please try later.

[edit2] After an hour back from dinner the first search was broken - empty page. The second (triangle; last year) yields 3 results plus this thread.

I think the keyword back then was "red triangle".
This keyword has also been added to the index of the help file, and points to the bookmarks section.

But "red arrow" is a new one  :)

Hi
Using the search button on the left (NOT the text edit on the right) with the search term 'triangle' yielded the following results(limited search to 1 year)
http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Automation
http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=general
Using V12

I see what you mean. Just tried the other search and had to stop it after a couple of minutes. I love the "search the forum" feature though  :)

Yes, whatever gave me the idea of using the word "arrow" when it clearly is an equilateral crimson triangle . Preposterous. Must have been smoking something funny.

Thanks guys.

I searched in the General Board for "red triangle" and I found numerous posts as old as 2001 all asking what the red triangle is for... ;D

Yes, yes. Mea culpa. It's not an arrow. It's a goddamn triangle. Got it. Getting me cat-o'-nine-tails out for self imposed penance through flagellation.

Now, what shade of red would you say it is then ?

And before anyone jumps in I'll add a few extra cracks of the whip for top posting. Didn't mean to.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel bad.
I just though it was funny that the same question has been coming up for more then 10 years now.
That probably says something about the less-intuitive nature of the "red triangle" feature in EA.

No, no. My fault actually. Should have added a few smileys. Was meant to be sarcastic. Thanks for your replies anyway. At least now I know what the red arrow/triangle/3-sided-polygon is for  :) !!
