SysML installation
« on: March 28, 2009, 05:10:54 am »
I have installed EA and the SysML add in as the system administrator. When another user logs into the machine they can use EA, but the SysML add-in is not available. I have reinstalled but have not been successful. As a user, not the administrator, I cannot install the SysML plugin. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem and needed to create and insert the below value into the registry - logged on as the user attempting to use the addin.

I'm not sure if this will work in all cases so you might want to back up the ..\EAAddins key before making any changes.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sparx Systems\EAAddins\SysML]
@="SysMLAddin.CSysMLAddin"

The registry doesn't show the addin key. I added it (exactly same as in the administrators account) and the addin still does not appear in the Add-Ins menu. :(

I was able to solve the problem by exporting the EA registry when the administrator and importing it as the unprivileged user. SysML not appears and seems to work. Thanks for the suggestion!  :)

Here's a long shot, but it might work.

Install SysML as an administrator. Then log in as an unprivileged user and start EA. From the main menu open the Settings | MDG Technologies dialog. If you see SysML listed, but not checked, check the box. Then exit EA and restart. Does SysML load now?

If so, then EA has set the registry key for the unprivileged user (these keys are set individually) and you should be OK from there.
No, you can't have it!
