SysML and EA 9.2
« on: November 18, 2011, 08:04:52 pm »
Hi Guys

The ability to show parts, values, ports, references etc as compartments in blocks is a most welcome functional enhancement.

However two comments:

1) It appears that these compartments always appear (for example when a part is added to a block), is there any way to make them appear as an option.
2) More importantly, I have figured out parts, ports and references ... but for the life of me I just cannot get values to appear. The user guide is of not assistance as no details are given and the example SysML model in EA-Example.eap does not use values  :'( Would most appreciate any help in getting this to work

Cheers

Phil

I'm also very happy to see that the SysML capabilities of EA are improving. I agree that the questions raised by philchudley must be addressed. The capability to control the visibility of different compartments must be provided (on both diagram and element level).

Also, the allocatedFrom and allocatedTo compartments is still missing.

I have found the hidden feature to add value properties to blocks: First you need to define your value types. Then try to drag a value type from the Project Broser and drop it on a Block, and choose 'Drop Class As Composite Part'. Voilà!

Hear, hear!

I also would like to be able to hide the various SysML compartments - even though I have been asking for the feature on and off for quite some time! Augmenting the Feature Visibility dialog and the diagram Element  tab would be a good way to do this...

The compartments added in 9.2 were those that come from child elements. We are planning to add relationship based compartments (including allocatedFrom and allocatedTo) and visibility options, expect to see them both relatively soon.

Thanks natvig!

I was nearly there, but forgot my drag and drop option dialog was turned off, and hence did not see the options you mentioned. Now works just fine!

Good news Simon, I look forward to the new features

Cheers

I hope that relationship based compartments are still in the roadmap. To be able to show allocation in compartments is a very important SysML feature. Any news on when we can expect to see this feature?
