Extracting "linked" elements into reports
« on: April 30, 2009, 02:45:18 am »
Hi,

I have several models that have been developed separately

ex: Business Requirements
    Actors/Stakeholders
     Business Use cases etc etc

In some instances I create a third, intersecting diagram to create - let's say, a Stakeholders Needs diagram which has Requirements Elements from the Requirements Model diagram and Actors from the Actors diagram. I try and stay clean by creating a package for each diagram ( thus I have an Actor package/diagram, Requirements package/diagram etc etc)

Now, I have a custom report that I have developed over time with EA and which I was **pretty** sure would extract not only elements that had been CREATED in the package/diagram on which you were executing the report but also those elements that had been DRAGGED IN FROM OTHER DIAGRAMS/Packages.

Unfortunately, the report does not seem to be doing this in my current environment. The diagrams have the "Document each contained element in RTF" flag SET but "linked" elements do not seem to be included in my report output...

 Ideas???

If you have a recent version (post 834) it should be just a matter of setting the RTF Section: Package::Diagram::Element - leave this blank to reflect the Package::Element layout.  See: http://www.sparxsystems.com/uml_tool_guide/enterprise_architect_reports/document_options.html
F8 | Include all Diagrms in Report -  must be ON.

I am using 6.5 ( beyond my control) and found out how to do it.
You need to use the "Include all elements on diagram" check mark AND also set up the Report template to include Package Elements
