How to Access UML Patterns from MDG Technology

I have created an MDG Technology that includes a UML Pattern that I've also created.   Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to access that UML pattern unless I also load it into the Project Resources (alt+6) pane.

How do I access the UML pattern that is part of the MDG technology without also loading it in the project resources?

I don't know the answer but remember it has been recently discussed here (good luck in searching for it).

At least I know that the MDG creation wizard has an option to include patterns as well. But maybe you can tell in what way you want to access the pattern. AFAIK it will only be presented in a toolbox.

I can create a toolbox tool that creates the pattern??   Can you please tell me where to find the instructions?   That would be awesome.

I wrote quite a long response, but YABB just ate it. In brief, in the online Help go to:

Extending UML Models > MDG Technology SDK > Defining a Modeling Language

and work from there.

In your toolbox profile you need an attribute named as "TechnologyName::PatternName(UMLPattern)" or "TechnologyName::PatternName(UMLPatternSilent)" depending on whether you want the dialog to show or not.

Thanks for all the help guys.   I got that working... that is a great feature BTW.   Some other guys at the shop loved the patterns... wait till I tell 'em about the toolbox thing.  8-)
