Composite diagram types and drag and dropping

I can create composite diagrams linked to an existing element (process) but when I try and create an interaction diagram and drag and drop actors from the project browser tree they are not created as lifelines. If I right click from a process and select the 'Add interaction with a sequence diagram' menu option I am able to drag and drop actors from the project browser tree and which creates lifeline elements which can re linked to.

Is there a way to create a composite and drag and drop linked elements.
