[edit]OK! I have used the 'Mark all as read' button at the lower right side on the 'Discussion' board now. Let's see if this lasts then.[/edit]

Seems to work right now ...

Nope. I used the top button and now tried the bottom one. Both work the same wrong way. The current section is marked read. But all other sections turn into unread >:(

You're right! As soon I use the button inside a section, all other sections will go unread again. >:(

We are aware of this and are looking into it.

Just to give you some more of my observations:

When I'm here http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?catselect=general and click 'Mark all as read', the next upper level (http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi) pops up and shows all posts in 'Latest News' section as unread. Choosing 'Mark all as read' inside 'Latest News' will set all messages in the discussion boards to unread in turn.

Best regards,
Günther

Is there any timescale? I mean looking into is nice. But what I really need is a solution.

Workaround of marking as read at the top level? (I have nothing to do with Forum maintenance, but I have found that marking as read like that works)

That works (around). Please, if you have this fixed or know when, post it here.

Apparently not!
It just requires some discipline to handle:
Never mark 'All Read' in forum boards, just ignore the threads you want to ignore when you're there. After reading all boards of interest, mark them all as 'All Read. This will show the next upper board level as unread then. Mark 'All Read' again. Now if you're updating the page, you'll see only new or updated threads again.

At least the search now works (though they obscure it by adding more and more fake search buttons, fields and links to the page). However, I have no idea what motivation Sparx drives :o

Seems as if you're looking very intense. But where?
