MS Access setup script needed
« on: October 19, 2013, 05:23:45 pm »
Hi,

there is DMBS Setup sript for several DBMS except for MS Access. I need a repository in MS Access with posibility to access the the database directly.

Does somebody of you such a script or would it be possible to generate it ?

Thanks,
Michel

You need to clone an empty repository. Use the one that comes with EA.

Hi,

because I cannot acces the underlying embedded MS Access, I have to build a repository like  for MS SQL, Oraclke etc.

Thanks,

Michel

No. Just copy a blank EAP. There's one included at C:\Program Files\Sparx Systems\EA\EABase.eap

Hi Michel,

Just to extend on qwerty's answer - Copy any EAP file (E.g. EABase.eap) and rename the file extension .EAP -> .MDB.  Double-click the MDB file to open in MS Access.

Hi Aron,

if it would be so easy... it was the very first approach, followed by differents tips and suggestion. I gave up.

Error at opening: "cannot open a database with a previuos version of your application".

I'm working in the present (64bit, Office 2013,...) not in the past, in the Stone Age.

Warm regards,

Michel

I guess you should be able to use the Jet4 based root repository (you can download it from Sparx' resource page). That you should be able to be opened with newer Windoze programs (I always thought that overloaded stuff is backward compatible to MS DOS  :-?). If it's just the insight you need you can also use an ODBC driver.
