remove document element verbage

hi there,

i'm using a document template that i did not create. there is some instructional verbage associated with a document element that i can't figure out how to remove or even where it is. its become obvious that when i add notes to the element that these notes are reflected in that part of the document but where can i find this additional verbage that gets inserted in the element beneath my notes?

any assistance greatly appreciated.
