Suppressing default quick links
« on: July 24, 2014, 12:08:55 pm »
I have a number of custom stereotypes which I have created quick links for.
So now, when I drag the quick link from one custom stereotype to another, it presents the users with only the valid options PLUS:

* Dependency,
* Trace,
* Information Flow, and
* Help.

I CAN suppress these by turning OFF standard UML but this is a nuisance because our Business Analysts use a combination of standard UML and some custom relationships to tie into the Enterprise and Solution Architecture models.

So, ideally I want to leave the standard UML MDG turned ON but suppress Dependency, Trace, Information Flow and Help whenever a user tries to create a relationship with one of my custom stereotypes.

Is there any way to do this?

I am currently using 9.3 but there are plans afoot to upgrade to the latest and greatest in the near future.
So, even if it is not possible in 9.3, I would still like to know if it is possible in later versions so that I can implement it when we do upgrade.

Many thanks in advance.

Jays :)

I guess the only way is, as you already found out, to turn off standard MDGs and rebuild anything you need.

Or to teach the modelers in the right way so they can cope with the superfluous info.

In the Quicklinker definitions, column P is the "Exclusive to Stereotype" filter. If you set this to TRUE on any one definition for a given stereotype, EA won't add in the default quicklinks for the UML base class. That should get rid of the Dependency, InformationFlow and Trace.

To get rid of the Help command, switch off the option at Tools > Options > Links > Quick Linker > Show Help.

Can you clarify what UML Base options you want to KEEP in your Quick-Link lists? Or what the base context is - Use Case, Class, State Machine, Activity?
