Model Selection under Project
« on: August 25, 2014, 10:21:15 am »
I would like to add a system model to my project.

The user guide doesn't seem to match the application.  The '\Sparx\EA Trial\EA.chm::/systems_engineering_modeling.htm#semodel' says
'In the Select From field, click on the drop-down arrow and select Systems Engineering Model.
Alternatively, if it is listed in the Technology panel, select the Systems Engineering Model item.
In the Name panel, select the checkbox next to the Systems Engineering Model icon.

I do not see a drop-down arrow nor a 'Systems Engineering Model'.  There are three SysML versions.  When I select version 1.3, the resultant content matches the end result of help file.

I wanted to record the difference because I am sure I will run into it again, and others may also.

Just for a reference point, the four other system packages I have reviewed all had similar mismatches - help files not being upgraded with the application.

The learning curve is sufficiently step for these applications.  If the support files matched the application, it would be easier to bring team members up to speed and thus enhance user acceptence.  But there may be a business case:  If help files are not sufficient, training services will be required which is another revenue stream.  Not a core competency but it is a revenue stream.
