How can I show that an element has a note inside?
« on: March 18, 2015, 02:31:21 am »
Hello,

I would like to know what I have to do for showing that an element has a note inside. I would like to put an icon or something similar (like when you create a Linked Document that an "A" appears in the bottom right part of the element). Does anybody know how to do this? Thank you in advance.

You can only do that for stereotyped elements where you write a shape script. You might request a new feature but only if you have a long breath.

If it helps:
You can display the notes in the element compartment.
Double click on the diagram | Select Elements tab | Check Notes option

Hello,
First of all thank you for your fast reply. Then, VKN, I already know that option but the problem is that if I show the notes my diagrams will become huge and I don't want that. With regards qwerty's reply, the problem of your solution is that I don't want to change the stereotype of a block, I want that automatically appears a symbol when I put a note inside. Is there a way to do that? Thank you.

You have three options:
1) Add a note to the diagram, link it to the element, right click on the link and select Link this Note to an element feature, select Element Note from the drop down. This will add a note next to only the elements you want.
2) As VKN descibed on an element by element basis.
3) Add a linked document and add the note to that, then you get a little red A in the bottom corner of the element.
