Placing (dashed) lines and dashed high phases
« on: July 06, 2015, 08:01:29 pm »
Hello,

I was wondering whether there is a possibility to use/place single (dashed) vertical lines and (dashed) high phases within an timing diagram in enterprise architect.

Thanks and regards

Unfortunately we do not have access to your C: drive. Place the picture on a public server, please.

I want to add (dashed) vertical lines like the red one and dashed high phases like the green one.

Thanks

I'm afraid this is not UML compliant. UML 2.5 makes use of dashed lines only for GeneralOrdering. I see the use of those dashed/colored lines but ...

What you can do (well, ...) is to mimic lines using boundaries you make invisible by assigning an alternate image. Very awkward but I have no other idea.

Hi,

I've found the following in UML 2.5 specification (http://www.omg.org/spec/UML/2.5/Beta2/PDF/):

A Lifeline is shown using a symbol that consists of a rectangle forming its “head” followed by a vertical line (which may be dashed) that represents the lifetime of the participant. (PDF page 644; Chapter 17.3.4 Notation; Lifeline)

It seems like dashed lifelines are generally possible, but not possible in EA?

Regards

A lifeline is part of a sequence diagram, not of a timing diagram.
