You can open a 2nd EA instance if it's just for navigation/compare. You can not drag/drop elements between instances.

Should I laugh at you since you can't speak fluent German? Vielleicht sollte ich.

I was specifically asked by one German flatmate never to speak the language again due to having a chimera accent after learning from speakers from different regions.  Apparently it was "an abomination and totally unacceptable".  Unfortunately, it now means I've forgotten most of the language.

But to your point,  why did I bother to learn a language that is of no practical use to me?  Probably because at the time I was a big Nina Hagen fan, and the Goethe Institute suckered me in with concert footage on VHS.

Or have I missed your point and you're claiming that Standard German does not differentiate between more and many?

Maybe he was simply making the point that English is not the first language of many of the users of this forum, and that it's unnecessary to criticize or joke at their expense.

Sure but equally it's an unfair assumption to think I was laughing at the OP (it wasn't a laughing emoticon), that I can only speak one language, and that I wasn't trying to help the OP improve his English in a gentle fashion.

If anything my amusement stems from the juxtaposition of this forum's normal pedantry and everyone ignoring a sentence with a missing clause.

Well, it's possibly a subtle distinction, but we as a group of forum users tend to exercise our pedantry on the more established and well known posters and be more gentle with the newer members who have not yet developed a forum thick skin. Also, the established users have demonstrated their levels of skill in English, and we know who we can poke fun at and who is more likely to make a genuine slip in English.

I have nothing but admiration for all the posters who make their points (well or otherwise) in English regardless of what their native language is. They speak my language a whole lot better than I speak any of theirs!

Err on the side  of caution and deal straightly with new posters. Or, if you can't resist having a go, jump on Paolo instead...

Yes, why not?  Everybody else does!  :)

But I think I have the last laugh...  ;D

Speaking of pedantry...  Some may find this interesting.  I found parts a bit disturbing...

I work with quite a few people whose first languages aren't English or even an Indo-European language.  Without exception, they see helping them improve their English as essential for improving their workplace skills.  I'm not advocating disrespecting other posters, but I think we should try and resist tone-policing and making assumptions about posters.

And by assumptions I'm referring to the fact the OP having been registered since 2012.

Glassboy, this is not a democracy, so I will put on my moderator's hat and make it easy for you: Do not "help" people with their English unless they specifically ask. More often than not, it is considered unfriendly or rude. This thread will now be locked.
