Bug with copying and pasting Data Model
« on: February 22, 2005, 01:21:18 pm »
Hi

Using 4.51.748 I'm having a problem with a Data Model diagram. I have built my diagram with a whole bunch of Tables on it, but when I try to select all the elements in the diagram and copy and paste them into MS Word, it doesn't work. It comes out with a funny box instead.

I have tried this with the simplest of possible diagrams - with a single Table, and it still doesn't work.

Is this a bug?

Hmmmm.... are you sure this works with a Data Model? Yes, this works fine for me with a class diagram, but not a data model diagram.

I've also tried pasting into PowerPoint with the same results.

However, maybe you're right. I just tried pasting into an image editor program and it comes through fine. So, when it pastes into Word, what format is it in? Is it an image or a metafile? Maybe there's a bug in the metafile format. It's just frustrating that the logical model diagrams work but not the data model.

BTW, I'm using Word 2000.

Format is controlled by Local Options | General at the top RH corner.

yep I tried classes only, tables only and mixed tables and classes.  I presume that your model is in a class diagram.

You lucky swine - we're still in the last century here, Office wise.

Try Diagram/Save Image to File and then import that into Word.
