New Feature Perspectives
« on: November 01, 2005, 04:18:02 am »
Hi,

I have a question to the new feature in EA 6.0 "Perspectives".I want to assign my own
extensions of the toolbox to pre-defined perspectives (e.g SOA Architect), but i don't found the way to do it.

Any Suggestions?

Oliver  ???

Try Help: Search "Perspective"

I already tried.  Unfortunately no answer for my request.

I found it very instructive. So where is the problem?

Hi Thomas,

I cannot see my own extensions in the toolbox folder list.So I cannot assign the extensions to the appropriate roles.

I added a "test" perspective. It appeared right on top of the dropdown. Selecting it made the toolbox appear as configured. Are we talking of the same thing?

Hi Thomas,

We do not speak about the same thing. I would not like to create a new perspective. I would like to extend an existing perspective. But I don't see my extensions for the UML-Toolbox in the selection list.

Aha! So what do you exactly mean with "your own extensions"? I now guess it's the list Analysis/Use Case/.../User Interface. You have to extend the list via an own profile. Then you can add it to persectives.

Oliver, am I correct in thinking you want to include a UML profile (or more than 1) in the toolbox for a given perspective?

If so, create an MDG Technology containing all the profiles. (Tools | Create MDG Technology File)

In your new perspective, set the technology to the ID you specified when creating the technology file.

When you change to this perspective your toolbox should contain the relevant profiles.
