Notes Compartment
« on: May 28, 2006, 07:27:21 pm »
About a year ago (and with a quick search - I couldn't find it).  I asked for the ability to render the Classifier Notes into their own compartment.  When rendering diagrams for certain classes of users, it is useful to have the Classifier's definition visible.

At present, I have to take the "scenic route" of add a note, link it to the element note, amend the Classifier shape to include the note, drop the note onto the shape, and then pin the note ends.

This allows me to move the note with the shape.

It would be so much easier if EA allowed you to merely display the Note in its own compartment.

Also, being able to switch this on and off using the Set Feature Visibility dialog is useful for general modeling as the Notes window can only show one Classifier at a time.

Away from the usefullness of this request, would it be UML compliant? I never have seen a notes compartment.

There's a LOT of stuff in EA that's not UML compliant, but still VERY useful!

That having been said, I think you can add compartments at will (like the Responsibilities compartment - non UML, I think).  (But I stand to be corrected)

At 7.3.7

Additional compartments may be supplied to show other details, such as constraints, or to divide features.

Which leaves it nicely open methinks.
