EA for Apple Mac (OS X + Core Duo)
« on: July 18, 2006, 07:07:02 pm »
While I am a relatively happy user of EA on my Dell,
what I REALLY want is a Mac Book Pro,
AND a version of EA to go with it.
Could I run the *nix version?

Don't Mac users have Virtual PC - http://www.apple.com/macosx/applications/virtualpc/ ?

I saw a news article earlier this week (somewhere between 2006-07-15 and 2006-07-18) that some dealers (wholesale and retail) will be bundling x86 Macs with Parallels software. This might satisfy the requirement at some level.
No, you can't have it!

I just installed the VM from Parallels on my new MacBook. Works like a treat - and I can have more than one Windoze running.

Codeweavers is working on a version of Crossover Office for the Mac. That might be preferable to Parallels--I just went to a Macbook myself and I'm strangely reluctant to put Windows on it.  ;)

I second the request for a OS-X version!

Even though I can use EA under my VM, it would be much better to have a native version :)

Yes please for a Apple OS X version (or one run via CodeWeaver software or something).

Enterprise Architect is the main reason for me to run Windows these days.

Great news - so far, EA 6.5 beta works on the Crossover beta for Mac OS Intel!  Just doing basic stuff, and I can create a project, add nodes, create a class, modify it.  So far so good.

Just install the Crossover beta.  Then grab the 6.5 beta.  Install it (the installer hangs at 0% remaining - I cancelled out, but it 'took').  Just minor issues so far, with some graphic repaint issues (black areas on the screen, which apparently the Linux version has too).

So, is Sparx tracking this too?  If so, will you guys provide a Mac version like you do the Linux (bundled with Crossover)?

I'm very happy now that I can use EA on my Mac!!!
