BUG?: Link name is FK column mapping
« on: October 10, 2006, 03:03:06 am »
I think this is a bug, but I'm open to argument otherwise...

Within the Data Modelling profile, EA places the column mapping in the connector Name property.

In most other Database Modelling systems, the connector name is either the Foreign Key Constraint name (or a domain name - or both).

In addition, the mapping of the origin column set to the destination unique key columns is really a form of constraint.  If it was placed there, it would still be displayed, but leave the Name field for other values.

Thoughts?
Paolo

BTW: by having the Foreign Key Constraint name as the connector name - you get a (typically) unique value that can help solve the Connector segment suppression
issue.
